Guidelines to determine if you're looking at a dirt racing air filter

.

  • If the filter media is not white, it's not a dirt car racing air filter
  • If the outer diameter exceeds 14", it's not a dirt car filter
  • If a requirement is to apply a tackifier (oil) to the media, it's not a dirt car air filter
  • If you have to replace the filter after a race or two, it's not a dirt racing filter (not because you have to chuck it but because of the media used in this type of filter)
  • If you see dust streaks on the air cleaner base, dust on the bleeds, pump squirter, boosters or beyond, it's not a dirt filter.
  • If you make a determination on filter usage based on a dyno session, it's not a dirt racing filter and an examination of people/process/protocol is certainly in order
  • If it's a house brand product of a retailer, it's not a filter designed for the demands of dirt racing

  Cleaning instructions

Using compressed air directed from inside out will restore filter performance to near new levels each time.

If discoloration such as oil residue collects on the media, prepare a mild solution of a biodegradable cleaner such as Simple Green and let the filter soak as long as necessary. Remove, rinse thoroughly and let dry for a couple of days

Make certain that the filter is fully dry before use.
